Basic Facts Term 2

We have been working on answering basic facts questions quickly and instantly.

I am at Stage 5.

Garden to table

We have been doing garden to table. It is where you have groups and one goes to the kitchen and one goes to the garden each week. I like making the food and pulling out weeds.

Handwriting term 2

We have been learning to form our letters correctly and to use capital letters in the correct place.

I am good at being tidy.

I need to get better at keeping my letters even.

Fractions

We have been learning how to do fractions of large numbers with Miss Toia.

5. There are 30 students in a class. ⅔ of the students have brown eyes. How many students have brown eyes? 30÷ 3 = 10 10  ✕ 2 = 20	6. A farmer has 48 cows. 4/6 of them had one calf each. How many calves were there altogether? 48÷ 6=8 8 ✕ 4 =32
7. There are 45 pencils in a box. Miss Toia sharpened 2/5 of them. How many pencils did Miss Toia sharpen altogether? 45 ÷5=9 9✕2 =18	8. Manu has 54 biscuits to share with his class. If he gives away 7/9 of them, how many is this? 54  ÷9=6 6✕7=42

ASB

A few weeks ago we had Marlon from ASB Get wise talking to us about saving our money, spending money on needs not wants and using invisible money ie eftpos. I have made a google draw to show what I have learnt. I liked learning about banks.

Animal town writing

This week we have used another picture as motivation for our writing. We had a story starter and then we had to carry on the story.

What I like about my writing is all the detail that I put in.

I need to improve on my spelling.

Here is my writing about Animal Town.

In the morning, I took a big yellow bus to Animal town. First, when I got there, there was a big green sign that said “Animal town”. I jumped off the bus and walked into the office. There was a big fat orangutan sitting on a chair, he was very hairy. I said “Can I please get into Animal town?”, the orangutan said “Yes” and I walked out of the office. Next, we saw two meerkats selling tickets for a tour around animal town. “Five dollars each!’’ they said, waving the tickets in the air. I walked up to them and they were about 50 cm short. We gave the meerkats five dollars and said ‘’thank you’’. I jumped in a big yellow van. I saw a very lazy lion on the roof of the van and there was a friendly bear that said “jump on!” so I jumped in the purple seats and the big yellow van started to move.I sor a big playground full of baby pandas then there was a ice cream shop with a gorilla in it selling  a ice cream to a tiger and there was no humans eny were we jumped off the van because anamilltown is shutting down I went home

Golf

On Thursday a man came to school. His name is Paul he taught us how to play golf. He taught us to swing big shots over the field and hit the targets. He also told us how to aim with a little hit. He told us some rules about golf.

Balloon writing

This week we have used a picture as motivation for our writing. We had a story starter and then we had to carry on the story. What I like about my writing is all my ditail that i put in. I need to improve on doing capital letters when I am supposed to. We also made a google draw showing the things that we would take with us in our hot air balloon. The great big red balloons were flying throw the sky touching the clouds and flying fast. I can look down and see the big mountains below me. I'm coming second I can hear the people shouting and cheering for me. I flew through the sky I had gone past Fiji. It was very hot. Now there was water dripping from my face. I was flying through the air looking at all the countries around the world.

All I could see was just green and mountains everywhere with big lakes and rivers. I could see the other big hot air balloons racing in front of me and all the animals. We have gone past a few countries now. I can see the finish line I'm flying through the air now. I'm coming first and I passed the line. Everybody was cheering for me. Now I had won the 1 million dollars.
