Maths 1

This term for maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D geometry.  Jack and I were in a team. We went on a Geometry Safari around the school grounds to see how many 2D  and 3D shapes we could find. Then we had to write what we had found into a table. We found that you can find geometry everywhere!
You can see ours below.

What shape did you find?
Is it 2D?
Is it 3D?
What is it part of or where was it?

My Maths Understandings

Kia ora,
We have been working on equal adjustments and place value partitioning for this term. We made three maths draws and each of the draws has an equation that are finished.
I liked adding the colours in and working out the equation.

Fractions

We have been learning how to do fractions of large numbers with Miss Toia.
Here is our work:
Fractions
  1. What is ⅖ of 20?
  2. 20 ÷  5 =4
  3. 2 ✕ 4 =8

2. What is ⅔ of 18?

18 ÷ 3 = 6
2 ✕ 6 =12

3. What is ¾ of 40?
40  ÷ 4 = 10
3 ✕ 10 = 30

4. What is 4/7 of 35?

7 ÷ 35 = 5
4 ✕ 5 =20
5. There are 30 students in a class.
⅔ of the students have brown eyes.
How many students have brown eyes?

30÷ 3 = 10
10  ✕ 2 = 20

6. A farmer has 48 cows.
4/6 of them had one calf each.
How many calves were there altogether?

48÷ 6=8
8 ✕ 4 =32

7. There are 45 pencils in a box.
Miss Toia sharpened 2/5 of them.
How many pencils did Miss Toia sharpen
altogether?

45 ÷5=9
9✕2 =18

8. Manu has 54 biscuits to share with
his class. If he gives away 7/9 of them,

Paper Spinners

We made paper spinners for maths. We had to use our fraction and shape knowledge to help us fold ours spinner. We decorated our spinner with patterns and colours. We battled our spinners with a friend. My spinner worked but unfortunately it got lost.

Here is what they looked like spinning around.

Fractions

We have been learning about fractions in maths. Fractions are a part of a shape or number. The top number is called a numerator and the bottom number is called a denominator.

Here is my fractions assessment.
