We have been reading different Countrys Myths for the 7 stars. In New Zealand we call the 7 stars Matariki. We have been writing our own myths about Matariki. I enjoyed writing my story. I did not enjoy trying to think of how they turned into stars. Here is my work.

We where writing a story based on Aliens and underpants. We wrote about Aliens because we watched a video on YouTube where there was this girl reading a story called Aliens love underpants. We had to write our own one about the time we saw an Alien in our back yard. The main part was that we had to describe what our Alien looked like. I enjoyed everything about it. Here is my writing. 

Meaning of words

Hello,
We have been reading an article in a group about the Bird Flu. In the article there where some words highlighted in yellow. The yellow words are the ones that we have to write the meaning of. I got all the meanings of the words off google. In my draw I also have a link that sends you to the site where I found the article so you can see the words. I enjoyed writing my answers and adding photos to it. I did not enjoy finding all the info of the words. I hope you enjoy my draw.

Structure Of The Earth

Structure of the Earth Facts

We are learning about the structure of the Earth.

I learnt that the Earth is made up of 4 layers. They are the; crust,mantle,outer core and the inner core.

Facts about each layer:

Crust -the crust is the thinnest layer on the Earth at 8-40 km thick and it is the coldest layer of the Earth

Mantle - the mantle is the thickest layer of the Earth and it has lots of lava and it takes up 84% of Earth's total volume.

Outer Core - the outer core is the only liquid layer and as the Earth spins around it spins around the melted iron and nickel moves around.

Inner Core - the inner core is really hot but it is solid because the pressure from the earth pushed onto is and makes it a solid iron and nickel ball.

First we created a 3D image of the earth using clay, knife, and news paper.

We then cut the shape in half to show the different layers. After waiting for it to dry, we identified each layer by painting them in different colours.

Blank fishbone MRS GREN

We have been learning how to write explanations and also

doing research about the living world so our teachers gave us this writing task. We leaned what a fish bone diagram is and how to use a completed one to make our own using a life form of our choice. We had to organise the fact boxes by using MRS GREN which is an acronym which reminds you about what life forms do.

I chose to write a megalodon.

What I liked about this task: I liked researching the information.

What was easy: using the template was easy.

Miss D animal farm

We did maths about Miss D's animal farm. We had to choose an animal to write facts about it. Here is mine about chickens.

Acrostic poem

Room 1 and 2 have been writing acrostic poems. Its when you write the word down the page and you write sentences with the same letter at the start and write your letter or word beside the big letters  and do it with every big letter.
