Is Earth like a hard-boiled egg?

We are learning about what the Earth is like on the outside and the inside. We used hard-boiled eggs as mini-models for the earth. We got to design our own continents and islands on the outside of the egg shell. At the end of the experiment we got to eat the egg!

Structure Of The Earth

Structure of the Earth Facts
We are learning about the structure of the Earth.
I learnt that the Earth is made up of 4 layers. They are the; crust, mantle, outer core and the inner core.

Facts about each layer:
Crust -the crust is the thinnest layer on the Earth at 8-40 km thick and it is the coldest layer of the Earth
Mantle - the mantle is the thickest layer of the Earth and it has lots of lava and it takes up 84% of Earth's total volume.
Outer Core - the outer core is the only liquid layer and as the Earth spins around it spins around the melted iron and nickel moves around.
Inner Core - the inner core is really hot but it is solid because the pressure from the earth pushed onto is and makes it a solid iron and nickel ball.
Our group -  Jaxon,Maximus,Kane
First we created a 3D image of the earth using clay, knife, and news paper.
We then cut the shape in half to show the different layers. After waiting for it to dry, we identified each layer by painting them in different colours.
Below are some pictures of our work.

mixed-ability maths

We have been in mixed-ability maths groups this term.
We worked in a group to work out questions that the teacher gave us.
I feel good working in my maths group because I got to help my group and they got to help me solve the maths
questions.
I enjoyed working in my group because when I was stuck they helped me get the right answer and I helped them to try and get the right answer too.
I found it difficult when we were talking altogether and the rest of my group were not listening to each other.  It was hard to listen to each other when we where all talking at the same time.

MRS GREN Animation

This term we have been working on the living word so Me and Max made a MRS GREN animation to show our understandings of MRS GREN. I really liked making the people in the slide the most. I did not like making the slides.

My Maths Understandings

Kia ora,
We have been working on equal adjustments and place value partitioning for this term. We made three maths draws and each of the draws has an equation that are finished.
I liked adding the colours in and working out the equation.

The Living World

Hello,
This is my living world slide show. For the next 5 or 6 weeks we will be choosing our own activities to learn about the living world. We did a multiple intelligence test to see what kind of learner we are.
My top three ways of learning intelligences are;
1.Kinaesthetic
2.Naturalist
3.Musical

I am looking forward to learning about the living world because we get to do activities outside and we get to work on our Chromebooks for the activities altogether.

Blank fishbone MRS GREN

We have been learning how to write explanations and also
doing research about the living world so our teachers gave us this writing task. We leaned what a fish bone diagram is and how to use a completed one to make our own using a life form of our choice. We had to organise the fact boxes by using MRS GREN which is an acronym which reminds you about what life forms do.
Here is mine.
I chose to write a megalodon.
What I liked about this task: I liked researching the information.

What was easy: using the template was easy.
